What happened during the work on the nearby towpath?
A section of the towpath leading to the Five Rise Locks will be closed this Autumn to allow for essential repairs. Over the years the state of the canal bank and towpath have deteriorated and these are essential upgrade works. As a result, the towpath will be closed between Airedale Boat Club Swing Bridge and Bingley 5 Rise Swing Bridge.
A diversion will be put in place for all towpath users over the duration of the work. Only boaters moored at the work site will be allowed access.
For more information, consult the Canal & River Trust notice bulletin about this closure
