Bingley Celebration of Walking 2025

A new format for our walking festival

For the past 7 years we've been organising a Walking Festival in Bingley. This year, we are doing things a little bit differently. We are very pleased to bring you our first Celebration of Walking!

Monday 5th May 2025 will see the first Bingley Celebration of Walking, proudly hosted by Bingley Walkers are Welcome.

We offer a choice of 5 walks all designed and led by our experienced walk leaders. Each walk has something different to offer to walkers of all abilities, ages and experience. It is a real chance to see some of Bingley and the surrounding district’s most stunning sights and landmarks.

Well behaved dogs are also very welcome!

Our revamp coincides with Bradford 2025, the UK City of Culture year-long celebration, and we are really proud to be part of it. You'll notice the use of the event's colours in all our promotional materials.

List of walks for the Bingley Celebration of Walking 2025

A linear route celebrating Bradford & Bingley

Led by Cedric Farineau & John Kata

Up to Bradford Cathedral in search of the legendary Bradford Boar’s Well. Embark on a linear 10-mile journey mixing countryside, woodlands, and urban landscapes. We’ll begin by strolling through the countryside towards the gorgeous Chellow Dean Reservoir via Cottingley and Sandy Lane. Then we will make our way into the urban suburbs of Bradford within the village of Heaton and towards Lister Park, where we will have our lunch break. After that pause, we will reach the other side of Canal Road via Frizinghall, walking through the wooded areas of Bolton Woods. This is where we will seek the Boar’s Well. Legend has it that this is where the tongue-less boar featured on the Bradford Coat of Arms’ crest, was killed.
Finally, we’ll walk towards our final destination, the Bradford Cathedral, where we will receive a warm welcome and some refreshments. At the end of our journey, if you have to make your way back to Bingley, we suggest you take the next train from Forster Square Station or Bus 662 from nearby Church Bank.

We will start this 6.5. mile walk in the Market Square, through some woodland, which will lead us along the Harden Beck to the spectacular waterfall. We will follow the Senior Way. Along the route, we will pass three mills: Hallas Bridge, Harden Bridge and Goit Stock.

A mixed terrain for the walk with flat dirt paths when dry but muddy and may be difficult to navigate when wet so highly recommend walking boots.
