Early this summer we’ve noticed some welcome changes along the Welcome Way Bingley Loop – the work looks to be down to Bradford Council’s rights of way team, and it’s made a real difference in three places along the route.
Morton Beck crossing: stile replaced with a gate
A new metal gate is replacing a stile
At SE100413, where the route crosses Morton Beck and enters the first field, the old step-over stile has been replaced with a metal gate.
Heights Lane: garden gate replaced with a metal gate
New metal gate replace a wooden garden gate
At SE116406, where the path leaves the fields and skirts round a house on its way towards Heights Lane (the route was diverted here some years ago when the house was built), the wooden garden gate has been swapped for a metal one.
Tewitt Lane: bridleway resurfaced
Tewit Lane resurfaced
On Tewitt Lane, the bridleway between SE121409 and SE122408 – the stretch that drops down the hill towards Eldwick – has been resurfaced. This was a rough, often very muddy section, badly eroded by use and water runoff, so the new surface is a big improvement for anyone walking, riding or cycling this ancient packhorse trail.
