When: Saturday 16th April – 10:15am |
Meet: The Half Moon Café, Roberts Park, Saltaire Note: Option of going to Saltaire on the 10.07 train from Bingley. |
In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the completion of the Leeds Liverpool Canal and as part of Saltaire Heritage Weekend, this walk is organised jointly by Walkers are Welcome in Bingley and Baildon
Meet at The Half Moon Café, Roberts Park, Saltaire at 10.15 a.m. for a 10.30 start.
Why not join us for a gentle, 3 mile walk from the Half Moon Café in Roberts Park to Five Rise Café, Bingley.
The walk will follow the route of the Leeds Liverpool Canal and Tish and Mike Lawson will give us historical information along the way.
We aim to arrive at Five Rise Locks at around 12.30pm / 1.00pm and, along the way, we will take lunch orders and ring them through to the café. Alternatively bring along a picnic.
Accompanied children are more than welcome but on this occasion sorry no dogs. The route is accessible for wheelchair users (provided you don’t mind some short sections of rough ground).
After lunch, there will be an optional walk back to Saltaire, taking the alternative route by the River Airer from the viaduct. Alternatively, public transport can be used to return to Saltaire.
