Bradford Millenium Way 2025 – The Bingley Circular

In 2025, various walking groups have collaborated to present a series of 16 circular walks inspired by the Bradford Millennium Way, first introduced 25 years ago. These walks will occur on Saturdays every three weeks from January to November 2025 as part of a contribution to the Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture programme.

On Saturday 8th February 2025, Bingley Walkers are Welcome will take you on a moderate 6.5-mile circular walk into the Harden Valley, showcasing the delights of its many wooded areas. From the hilly conifer plantation of Ruin Bank Woods to the quaint village of Rycroft and the wonderful St. Ives Estate, this walk has a lot to offer! And it's just on the doorstep of Bingley, which is easily accessible by train and bus.

What do you need?

Bring the following with you:

  • water bottle, flask and any snacks.
  • any medication you might need, including plasters;
  • hand sanitiser;

Note: many paths will be stony or muddy so please wear walking shoes or boots with non-slip soles. You may want to bring walking poles with you if you usually feel more comfortable with them.

Public Transport & Car park

Bingley Walkers are Welcome encourage all participants to use public transport to come to our walks. Bingley Railway Station is a stone's throw away from Bingley Arts Centre. Both bus routes, The Shuttle 662 and Aireline 60, stop near Bingley Arts Centre. Parking in Bingley unfortunately is not free on Saturdays, so expect having to pay for your car park. All our walks are FREE! However, we would appreciate a small donation towards the cost incurred for running our walks and events throughout the year. These include insurance, promotion, materials and our annual fee to keep our Walkers are Welcome status.

  • Leaders will not be able to give you any personal assistance which would involve close proximity or touch during the walk (except in an emergency), e.g. to cross stiles, or manage slippery slopes, so if you think you might need assistance please bring along a family member.

What is the Bradford Millenium Way?

The Bradford Millennium Way is a scenic long-distance walking route spanning approximately 45 miles through the picturesque landscapes of West Yorkshire. Designed as a circular trail, it offers a mix of moderate to challenging terrain, making it suitable for experienced walkers and those seeking an adventurous day out. The route showcases a variety of natural and cultural highlights, including tranquil moorlands, historic villages, and charming waterways. Key locations along the trail include the bustling town of Bingley, known for its iconic Five Rise Locks, and Saltaire, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other points of interest include Ilkley Moor, the Brontë Country near Haworth, and diverse countryside views that capture the beauty of the region.
