Reinstatement of the path at Marley Court in Crossflatts

We are very happy to report that a well-used path has finally been reinstated in Crossflatts after months of battle between a developer and the locals.

The path, located between Marley Court and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, was closed “temporarily” when work started on a brownfield site in 2022 for the erection of 19 new dwellings. The site, owned by social housing provider Incommunities, already had the path for over 60 years, originally when three blocks of flats had been built on it. Ever since the approval of the new development, locals campaigned for its inclusion in the project. So, when work was finished on the dwellings and the path was no more, a long battle started with Incommunities.

The wait is over

Finally, Incommunities have listened to the locals' request and kept true to their word. There is now a secure and well-defined path at the side of the development, once again linking the canal with the rest of Crossflatts.

Below is a post from local Councillor Marcus Dearden acknowledging the reinstatement of the path.
