Black Girls Hike (BGH) have recently contacted us as they were looking to organise their first walk in Yorkshire with a start in Bingley. The group provides a safe space for Black women to explore the outdoors. The aim of the group is to develop services and projects to increase the participation and development of Black women in the outdoors, and opportunities to engage. It seeks to encourage Black women to reconnect with nature; the group hosts nationwide group hikes, outdoor activity days and training events.
Dr. Sarah Njeri is the newly appointed Yorkshire coordinator and she approached us to seek for advice regarding potential suitable routes for their first walk. At Bingley Walkers are Welcome, we are very delighted to be able to help and we wish all the best for this new walking group to thrive and grow.
