I am preparing a brief history of a masonic order St Hiev Mark Master Masons which meets in Bingley since consecration in 1947. The founders based the name on the oldest historical estate in the area and also the religious association of the area with a female patriarch of the early English church. The name Hiev is the name of the area as recorded in the Doomsday book in 1069.
Our Lodge banner depicts a door with 2 impressive pillars either side. I can find nothing recorded in our documentation but word of mouth through the years indicates it was influenced by the entrance of the main hall on St Ives estate.
I want to mention this in our records and would like permission to have a picture of the doorway to indicate this likely link.
